Heart to Horse
Equine-Facilitated Wellness (EFW) Sessions
with Barbara Balshaw-Dow, MSW, RSW
Experience the power of connection, reflection, and personal growth through Equine Facilitated Wellness. These unique two-hour sessions combine trauma-informed wellness practices, mindfulness, and the natural wisdom of horses to support individuals navigating life transitions, stress, grief, relationship challenges, personal growth, and emotional well-being. Horses are increasingly used within wellness and therapeutic settings because of their ability to provide immediate, non-judgmental feedback and support self-awareness, confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience.
Working alongside horses in a safe, ground-based environment (no riding required), participants are invited to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and explore patterns of leadership, boundaries, communication, self-trust, and nervous system regulation. Sessions are experiential, meaning the learning comes through direct interaction, observation, reflection, and guided discussion.
